Hulya KOC

Founder / Board President

Hulya Koc is a serial entrepreneur with over 40 years of experience, a
mentor to American as well as international entrepreneurs and a
globally accredited investor.

She began her career as a banker and continued on to become an
entrepreneur in Silicon Valley. In addition to founding and
successfully exiting three companies, Hulya co-founded two nonprofit
organizations. Her most recent exit, an employment agency catering to
the childcare vertical (www.childcarecareers.net), grew to become an
industry leader with 25 offices across the US and was sold to a
consortium of US-based private equity firms. She has received
numerous awards one of which was ‘The Small Business of the Year” from
the Honorable Congresswoman Jackie Speier’s Office.

Hulya co-founded the Istanbul Chapter of Keiretsu Forum – the world’s
largest angel investors platform. She also formed its woman investors
group, “KAYAK,” a first of its kind in Turkey, after joining Keiretsu
Forum’s Bay Area chapter over 10 years ago. As a seasoned angel
investor, her portfolio consists of numerous global start-ups across a
variety of industries.

Hulya has been recognized for her outstanding leadership and
mentorship of entrepreneurs by the US Small Business Administration.
She continues to be a mentor for SCORE, the mentoring/counseling arm
of SBA.

She actively advises and mentors international start-ups in a variety
of fields such as high tech, retail and business services at Founders
Space – an incubator in Silicon Valley ranked in the top ten in the US
by Forbes Magazine and UC Berkeley in their Technology
Entrepreneurship class.

Hulya also routinely presents seminars in the US and overseas on angel
investing, financing of new businesses and science of networking for
several organizations.

Dedicated to improving the lives of children and entrepreneurs in
underprivileged neighborhoods, Hulya volunteers extensively locally,
state wide and globally for several organizations. She has also
served on numerous non profit Boards.

As a very active community organizer and a philanthropist, Hulya has
been granted the Lifetime Service Award by her community. Currently,
she is the co-president of ETAC – Empowering the Turkish-American
Community USA.
With her hard working team, soon they will be opening The Turkish
American Community Center in Northern California with Resource &
Referral Hotline, the first of its kind in the US.

Hulya holds a graduate degree in business administration and education.
